About the Artist
Sophie Morgan, now 25, broke her back in a car accident in 2003 and is paralyzed from the chest down and in a wheel chair for life. Seeing the world from a different perspective has led her to become passionate about changing perceptions of disability by inspiring confidence in disabled people and acceptance and equality in society.
Sophie, recently nominated for ‘Young disabled Person of the Year Award’, has featured on several BBC shows, one of which ‘Britain’s Missing Top Model’ focused on the fashion industry and its relationship with disabled models. B.M.T.M aired in Europe, the U.S.A and Canada in March on the One: Body, Mind, Spirit channel. An artist (www.sophiemorgan.com) trained at the prestigious Goldsmiths University in London, Sophie also works as a TV presenter (The one Show, CBBC and BBC3) as well director of the IMperfect campaign (www.imperfect.uk.com), which supports victims of disability discrimination and empowers young disabled people. |

 Sophie's MANNEQUAL®
|
No stranger to the worlds of modeling and fashion, Sophie aims to see retailers supporting disability. The manifestation of this is in the form of a ‘wheelchair’ for mannequins. The MANNEQUAL® was designed when Sophie, irritated by the lack of representation of disability on the high street, decided to create a product that would call an end to disability discrimination. The MANNEQUAL® evolved and is the first display product of its kind. It is essentially a wheel chair in which mannequins can be seated, but the message of inclusivity that this will give to all customers cannot be underestimated, aiming to bridge one of the many gaps found in our society; the void that exists between disabled customers and the exclusive fashion world. Soon to be featured in department stores in the UK, the MANNEQUAL® is now proud to be working in partnership with IZ Adaptable Clothing label, which Sophie is also spokesperson for.
